Separation Technologies’ Management Team

Pat Borders, President
Pat Borders is responsible for the overall commercial development of Separation Technologies and the successful execution of the company’s business strategy on a worldwide basis. Pat joined Titan America in 1997 as Vice President, Marketing and Sales for Roanoke Cement; in 2000 he became Senior Vice President of Construction Materials where he was responsible for the marketing and sales of both Roanoke Cement and Titan Virginia Ready-Mix. Over his 33 year career, he has held executive marketing and management positions with several industry leaders as well as operated in private consulting.

Dr. James D. Bittner, Sc. D., Vice President, Technology
With a Doctor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Bittner brings more than 20 years of international experience in managing R&D, technology transfer and implementation, and manufacturing operations in the particulate chemicals and materials industry. His experience and knowledge provides a thorough understanding of combustion processes acknowledged by an award of the Silver Medal from the Combustion Institute.

Al Vasiliauskas, Vice President, Operations and Logistics Development
Drawing on over 25 years of experience in the acquisition, design, construction, start-up, and operations of mineral processing facilities, Al's focus is on development of international operations along with transportation logisitcs. Prior to joining Separation Technologies, he served in a variety of senior executive positions. Al brings expertise in all aspects of facility management, including utility relations, production, quality control, maintenance, sales and logistics interfacing.

Tom Cerullo , Vice President, Sales and Marketing
With an education in Marine Engineering, Tom Cerullo directly oversees the sales' and marketing team's' efforts and the operations of our domestic plants through our regional general managers. With a diverse background that includes sales and operations management, and operating and maintaining high pressure steam boilers, Tom's real strengths are in providing host utilities feedback on combustion systems and offering concrete producers economical solutions.

Ken Cabay , Northeast Region General Manager
With a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University and his professional experience in sales, technical engineering, logistics and strategic development, Ken is the general manager of sales and operations from Maryland to New Brunswick, Canada.

Carlos Cardounel, Southeast Region General Manager
With a degree in physics and chemical engineering, Carlos' daily efforts draw on over 14 years of experience in minerals processing. Carlos oversees both sales and operations for our plants from Virginia to Florida to Mississippi.

Frank J. Hrach, Director, Process Engineering
Frank Hrach has more than 15 years of experience in research and development, design and construction, and operation of specialty chemical production processes. He has contributed to the development and implementation of Separation Technologies’ patented electrostatic separation and ammonia removal technologies. Frank holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Bill Sert, Director, Design, Manufacturing and IT
Bill Sert brings to Separation Technologies over 25 years of experience in the design, manufacturing, and automation of industrial equipment. He is charged with overseeing design, assembly, installation, start-up, and ongoing field service of our electrostatic separators. Bill holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering.

David C. Timmerman, Vice President, Generation Services
Dave Timmerman has over 30 years of experience in the power industry in sales, business development, customer service, marketing and manufacturing. Dave works closely with utility providers interested in our technology to beneficiate their fly ash to produce a consistent product for the concrete construction industry.

Randy S. Dunlap, Vice President, US Business Development
Randy Dunlap brings 25 years experience in the cement and fly ash industry. Responsible for new business development of ProAsh®, our unprocessed PreAsh, and Ecotherm ash markets. Randy utilizes his expertise in the concrete industry and fly ash management to assist coal-fired power producers seeking customized solutions to meet their fly ash needs.

George Kyrtatos, Director, Business Development, Europe
A veteran of our parent company, Titan S.A., George joined Separation Technologies to assist the management team in the development of its worldwide marketing and business development strategies. During his tenure with Titan, George served as Environmental Protection Engineer for Kamari Cement Plant in Greece, Regional Sales & Business Development Manager for Europe, International Investments Manager in the Group's Strategy Division, as well as Country Director in the S.E. Europe & Middle East Division.
